The D-ring cheekpiece consists of two rings that are shaped like a D. As the rings cannot move back and forth, this cheekpiece offers more stability but also lets the rein aids come through more directly. The D-shape gives more side pressure (against the cheek), making steering easier
The French Link mouthpiece is a double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat eight-shaped piece in the middle, which exerts equal pressure on the tongue. Because of the smaller edges, the pressure is somewhat sharper than with a normal double-jointed mouthpiece. The French Link mouthpiece has two hinge points, is shaped more to the form of the mouth and lies looser in the mouth. Because of the shape of the French Link, the mouthpiece will exert more pressure on the sides of the tongue when tilted. The intermediate piece is angled at 45º so that it lies flat on the tongue.
